OK,
this is an extra long post
because I want to finish up with
the whale watching quest.
I did edit down the number of photos.
But still there's too many.
I'm not sorry. (smile)
Can you see the rainbow
that is showing in the mist from the whale?
The whales are coming straight at us.
Our boat's engine is off at this point.
So very close.
They swam under us and
came up on the other side of the boat.
About right here,
a whale came up blowing his spout
all over those of us at the rail.
There was whale snot
raining down on us.
It was exciting, and awesome.
Spectacular.
A short time later the whales
were back to bubble net feeding.
More tail shots.
Then more bubble net feeding.
Off they go.
It was time for us to head back.
It was just beyond beautiful there.
Our naturalist and crew
demonstrating the humpback's method
of bubble net feeding.
She also said that we had just seen
behavior that
National Geographic comes
to Alaska to document.
Even the crew members were thrilled
with what we all had just witnessed.
It was truly spectacular.
~~~
Too soon, it was time to head back
on our tour bus and straight into
a construction delay.
Thank goodness we were on a
Princess sponsored tour as
the ship will not leave without us
if we were late getting back.
We were the very last people to arrive
back at the ship and we were late.
One last quick glimpse of Mendenhall Glacier.
It was a wonderful tour
and I loved being out with the whales
in the evening hours.
Even the whale snot was fun.
P.S. I know it's not snot.
