Early Saturday morning,
we checked out of the hotel and
headed back to the waterfront area.
Specifically Pike Place Market.
After finding a parking lot that
wasn't outrageously expensive
or too far away, we walked uphill
to the market place for an early morning
visit.
At the time, most vendors
were just setting up for the busy day.
The fish markets were busy icing their displays.
Monk Fish
It was cool being there in the early morning
hour, as it's way less crowded than it
was just an hour or so later.
The flower bouquets were gorgeous.
Most were just $10 to $20 for
large bouquets.
Can't get it any fresher.
We stopped at Lowell's for breakfast.
I read reviews online for places
in Seattle that were good for breakfast,
and breathtaking views.
Lowell's was perfect for us.
The breakfast we shared was good,
and the coffee was a necessity... of course.
We ordered at the counter downstairs,
and took our coffee mugs upstairs to
a window side table on the third floor.
Another cruise ship ready to disembark
passengers, reload and head back to Alaska
later in the day.
A couple of roof top backyards,
with gardens, and a grill.
Back in the market downstairs,
we came across several interesting
shops selling all kinds of goods.
Chocolate Raspberry Pasta anyone?
Makes me wish we had something similar
here in the north state.
Oh the flowers.
Out on the western side of the market,
looking eastward back at Lowell's
(center windows).
We were out on an outdoor
walkway leading down hill to another street.
Heading back inside
we spied this jean clad cook
getting his preparations started
for the day.
I wasn't to sure about the cleanliness
or the way things looked
from this small peek from the outside.
Here's the same shop from the inside of the
market area.
I liked how Seattleites can plant flowers
everywhere and they grow lush and beautiful.
These planter boxes would burn up here within
a day in our heat.
Oh my goodness, the flowers....
were just plain
fabulous.
You could spoil yourself silly,
with an inexpensive bouquet
from every market visit.
Too bad Seattle is a two day
drive from here.
Edited to add:
This is the second post on our Alaska Cruise Vacation.
