Tucked away,
in a few heavily shaded coves
on the lake,
are areas that are lush green
with ferns, and shade loving wildflowers.
These micro climates,
with cool air coming down
from the mountains,
keep the coves at least 15 to 20 degrees
cooler than the sunnier areas of the lake.
The naturally cool
areas are perfect for
tucking the boat against the
shore, swimming, and relaxing
without being too overwhelmingly hot.
Since the water is so high,
we were right up there in the
cool, mossy, fern-y, poison oak-y
area. It's very beautiful up there,
and we love it when we can,
because the lake
doesn't stay full for long.
We had a close up view
of the wild columbine
right in front of the boat
as it was anchored against the shore
in the photo above.
This is some blog break, eh?
This post was prepared ahead of time.
Take care, P.
