Garden

Sunday and Monday's work.
We finished moving the five yards of mushroom compost into the beds.
  We got it dug in.
We checked and  repaired water lines, and then we were ready to do the fun stuff.

Most of the garden is planted now.
We planted two types of sweet corn, gourds,
 hard winter squash from Thailand,
butternut squash, two types of cantalope,
okra, yellow onions, edimame~soybeans,
two types of peas, yellow and dark green zucchini,
cilantro, parsley, several kinds of green beans,
 radish, collard greens,
green chard, Swiss chard, Bright Lights and Neon chard,
bok choy, pak choy, two types of spinach, turnips, beets,
pumpkins, cabbage, broccoli, and three types of lettuce.
Whew!

Plus  we have four beds of tomatoes.
Early Girl, Brandywine, San Marzano,
yellow pear, Garden Peach, Sweet 100 cherry, Green Gapes, Nyagous,
Marvel Stripe, Green Zebra, and Sungold Cherry and more to come.
Cousin T. would like to grow Beefsteaks.

On the home front, not much is getting done in my gardens,
but the iris are doing great, thanks to all the spring rain we had.

  1. WOW now that is a GARDEN!!! Ours is so "tiny" next to yours, but we are excited to have one at all. We had to wait on some planting because they are talking about a "freeze this weekend". Our onions are coming up - I will take pictures of "our garden" soon. I wanted to wait. We have some beautifu Iris too - Jerry brought in some for we could enJOY them! Yours are really beautiful! We mainly have the purple ones. We have this one peonise bush (I don't even know how to spell it) that is going to be goregous! I will post pictures of that. I bet you were tired after all of that!

  2. Yes, it was lots of hard work. Now the easy part comes, watering and weeding and then the daily harvesting. We're very good about keeping it weed free during the summer months. This is our third year for the garden.
