Our daffodils are just open today. It seems every year spring comes earlier.
Everything is getting green. We enjoy it while we can for summer comes way too soon here. Our normal summer days range from 100 to 105 degrees with peaks up to 117 like last year.
Even the mushroom, fungi, and moss are springing into the act. Click to enlarge the photo below. The hair like stalks are only a couple inches tall.
There's pink color showing on the nectarine buds which are swelling. Our last frost date isn't until April 15.
Up until today, I was holding out hope that this year we would get snow. We've had it for the prior seven years. Anyway, we hope for more rain. We've received 90% of our normal rainfall, but we are trying to make up for the two years of drought we've gone through. Meanwhile Mother Nature, you are giving us a week of sunny weather up in the 60's and low 70's. Thanks, we'll enjoy it!, but please send us the rain that the weather forecasters are predicting. I won't even gripe that it's due here on the weekend.

OH how I long for Spring. We have nothing but white, dirt snow everywhere your eye can see. Someday soon... The daffodils are lovely.
ReplyDeleteI long for SPRING too! Here we have a lot of snow yet! The sun has been shining. My friend did buy me a daffodil plant so Jerry will plant it when we can. Until then, we must accept reality of SNOW, COLD, and more cold. That is the price of Iowa - well worth it.
