This is Winter?
My daffodils started blooming
Saturday January 25th.
Way too soon.
I also found some violets blooming
almost hidden among the fallen oak tree leaves.
We spent the weekend
cleaning out flowerbeds,
trimming last year's growth
and raking away the fallen leaves.
There's new growth showing on
several of the perennials.
The scent of herbs and warming soil
filled the air as I worked around the beds
trimming oregano, garlic chives and anise hyssop.
I also trimmed the lemon verbena
that still had last years green growth on
the branches.
It smelled wonderful.
It smelled like Spring,
and with an 80 degree temperature
it felt like Spring as well.
Rick pruned our plum trees
that were already starting to bud out.
We really could use some
winter weather here though...
Come back rainy season,
we miss you.

What pretty Daffys..We've been really lucky snow wise..Small clippers..a few inches at a time..The plows are annoying but it could be worse..Your post was like a breathe of fresh (spring) air..Still don't get your posts so thanks for commenting on mine..
ReplyDeleteSounds wonderful Patricia....."I WANT SPRING...I want spring!!!" We are getting more snow...but glad I am not living on the east coast, they are getting blasted tonight!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your pictures. Was talking about you the other day to some friends. One of them was going on her first cruise. I mentioned your cruise to Alaska and how beautiful your pictures were.
One of the other ladies said she heard those cruises are beautiful. Have a good day.

That is just CRAZY and too early. I'd be afraid the weather is playing a trick on you and when you least expect it..... surprise!! I do love seeing the spring bulbs sprout and the feeling of 80 degree weather. Our's is gloomy, cold and foggy. I would love some snow but I don't think it's going to happen.
ReplyDeleteI love the seasons and the change that comes with them, but like you, I prefer it in their own due time.
Beautiful photos as always!
Hi Patricia....guess what, you were one of the winners in my Valentine card give away. Hopefully you shall receive the card in a timely manner....before Valentines Day. So congrats....hope you like the card.
