Sunday, we drove up to the dam
to get photos of the other side.
Shasta Dam, Shasta Lake, and Mt. Shasta.
View of the dam from inside the visitor's center.
The hillside on the western side of the dam
was burned during the "Motion Fire" in
June of 2008. That was a very scary summer.
We were out on the lake during
that fire and took photos that
captured the trees exploding
in the fire/smoke.
We're expecting another bad year
for fires because of the drought.
It was 107 degrees yesterday
and today is the fourth day in a row
with temps above 100 degrees.
The houseboats are busy on the lake.
This one is from Silverthorn Resort.
There was a nice cool breeze
coming off the lake.
Away from the lake though,
it was very hot!
I didn't expect to see
this couple out walking goats
down the trail.
Currently the lake is down 90.21 feet
from the crest.
How low will it go...?
